Back to '92

From my perspective, this month's Hard On was the best one so far. Despite a rival club opening up next door targeting the same fetish party animals, we were packed with shiny, happy people. Gleaming latex & smiles to match, everyone arrived ready to have the time of their lives. Lots of old faces dusted off their leathers and came down to Crash to show their solidarity with Suzie and support for Hard On. The atmosphere was electric, Suzie promised a fantastic night & delivered in full, with knobs on. Empress Stah dazzled us all with her Golden Performance.
We all played our boots off and when I finished my set, I danced until the bitter end. The crowd were so up for it, people were saying how much it was like Trade back in the day. What an accolade, I can't wait for next month. QX Magazine said this...
Critique from "Anonymous of seeUout"

some more commentary...

and here's what the Munchkin from Scene-Out had to say... I thoroughly enjoyed my night and after a bit more bopping headed home, to be greeted by a forlorn looking Toto. "How was your night?" I asked "Rough" came the reply "Yes I know where you went, I wanted to know how it was" I said "Rough" was all he said. Oh dear, I thought, obviously not a good night. "So what was the crowd like?" He looked at me and the 'R' started roll off his tongue and I got the picture.

Toto should have gone next door to Hard-on, where a good time was had by all according to the Munchkin who sent this report:

"Last Saturday's monthly fetish night at Crash again proved to be a fantastic night out for London's kinky clubbers. The strict dress code of leather, rubber, fetish, and boots ensures that only those who make the effort and come as guests or members may attend.

A fierce but friendly mix of both familiar faces and first timers ensured that there was something for most everyone. Despite a rival night next door, the club was very busy with a packed dance floor and loads of action in the both the second and upsairs arches.

One couple who recently moved down from Manchester told this Munchkin that after trying Rough next store, they decided to visit Hard On as guests for the very first time. Both were very impressed by the crowd, the music, and are likely to become regulars. It is always nice to see new faces on the fetish scene, and Hard On's lack of attitude and strong crowd of regulars ensures a fun night.

As always the bar between the two dance arches became the evening's social hub, with friends enjoying a chat prior to hitting the dance floor for pumping, hard house. Crash benefits from extra-friendly bar staff who go out of their way to look after their guests.

Upstairs in the sling loft, the lighting was just bright enough to find your way. Throughout the night there was plenty of jiggy jiggy to keep even the most greedy of bottoms happy. Downstairs in the second arch there was plenty of porn, including a great film about what happens if you let gays in to the military. That wide open room keeps voyeurs quite happy. Oddly, at one point in the evening the whole upstairs was shut, leaving some outside their natural habitat for some considerable time. This Munchkin saw the evening's floor show for the first time in many moons.

Empress Stah delivered a sexy if slightly kitsch performance only clad in gold paint. As the Bond theme Goldfinger played, Empress Stah flashed a large medal and seduced the crowd with elegant moves. She seemed to be celebrating a small victory for London winning the Olympics. So nice to see that even Hard On is getting into the spirit.

The evening's only downers were a couple of silly men, looking far from butch, being gently carried out (presumably) after taking too much GHB. So embarrassing for both those guys and their friends, and unfortunately a few thoughtless people may put our clubland risk. Please remember that no one ever looks pretty passed out on the floor, so do leave that stuff at home."

E J Doubell - Class DJ & Top Bird!

Today, I once again had the privilege of spending time with one of my great heroines, Emma Doubell. Together with Lee & Bradley from Kaos, we meet each month at Emma's flat and while away the afternoon sifting through her record collection with a view to increasing our ever growing collections of amazing old tunes.

I thoroughly enjoy the afternoons we spend together each month, discovering so many precious gems amongst her records. Sounds that make the hairs stand on end all over my body. Chatting and reminiscing about the good old days and going home with armfulls of fabulous gorgeousness. It makes me very happy. To top it all, I get to play alongside Emma at Hard On, an honour I appreciate and enjoy more and more as I get to know her better... and now she's my New Ace Pal I don't fuck up the mix every time she steps into the DJ box any more!

How lucky we are...

I believe in Karma

It was a week ago today that my friend Suuz was shot in the head whilst cycling home in East London. The sad sickos hit her in the skull with a high powered air rifle, from an anonymous upstairs window. As she fell off her bike, she saw particles emanate from her own skull and heard the snipers laughing. Fortunately, she is out of hospital now, however the impact will be with her for a very long time. I am thinking of her with love and respect and I hope she is fully healed really soon.
